Pétanque is one of the biggest sports to be played in Kent with over 600 members and 62 clubs. Istead Rise being one of them.
It is an outdoor game which can be played by two, four or six people (singles, doubles and triples). It is perfect as low impact exercise involving throwing, bending and walking. It also involves team play, concentration and tactics.
It is a very sociable game played at all levels from 8yrs onwards.
We meet on a Tuesday from 7.30pm for practice and our weekly get together. Wednesday is the competitive league night.
Every year Pétanque England hold an Inter-Regional Pétanque competition. Both an Istead Rise adult and junior team made it into the Kent squad. This competition was held at Hayling Island with around 1,000 players taking part from all over England and Wales.
