The event took place on Saturday 2nd July and the walk started at the Primary School and finished at the Community Centre.
This walk really fitted into what the children have been learning about, in relation to the importance of exercise and healthy living and also the significance of charity. We spoke about every small way that we can help our community with kindness and generous gestures.
All citizens have a role to play in our community and if children are taught this from a young age, we believe that it can educate and make them kinder individuals late on in their lives. Hence why we thought of walk (a form of exercise) to raise funds for our community. We were initially considering other charities, but then decided to do this event for the Istead Park Project.
We had a meeting with Councillor Dakota Dibben as this project couldn’t have gone ahead without his support. We printed leaflets and hand delivered them around Istead Rise welcoming all our community to come together to support us.
We have had a remarkable effort from our children, their parents and grandparents as they all supported us so much especially Ellie Dann who was so determined to help. She was so enthusiastic about telling all her family and friends. She even made a video to explain in her own words why she needed to lend support! Her mother, Jasmin Dann “She did amazing – we are so proud of her incredible efforts”.
Kiddiecare Kindergarten arranged for regular refreshment stops with the support of Bill and Janet Purbrick in Lewis Rd and Mary Porter at St Barnabas Church provided everyone with refreshments. Lots of people from the community came out to cheer us and also donated money on the day. Each child was also presented with a certificate of achievement and a medal by Cllr. Dibben.

We pride ourselves with the education and ethos we teach our children who attend Kiddiecare and we also have a very great relationship with all our parents. My team and I feel extremely happy and proud with how well this event went. A huge thank you to everyone for joining us on the day and all the support we received and I was delighted to sponsor every child.
The money fundraised will help with phrase 2, funding outdoor gym equipment for the Park, which will benefit the local community.
Many thanks
