Istead United Colts U9’s lift the Challenge Shield

Istead United Colts U9’s (Colts) concluded an impressive second season together by winning the North Kent Youth League Challenge Shield.

Colts beat Woodpecker FC 2-3 in the cup final that was played at Acacia Hall in Dartford. Both teams played at a high level and were an advert for grassroots football in Kent.

Colts were 2-0 down at half time after a slow start. However, the second half saw Colts display their determination and togetherness as a team to turn the tables on a strong Woodpecker team and impressively scored 3 goals to secure a memorable win and proudly lift the cup.

The match was watched by a strong crowd from both teams that got to witness two worthy teams battle it out for the Challenge Shield.

The celebrations continued back at Istead Rise Community Centre where the team had prepared for an afternoon of celebrations together.

Colts manager, Antony Slee had this to say about the day; “I am so proud of what our team has achieved in such a short period of time. It’s a fantastic occasion for everyone involved at the club and demonstrates what a special group of players we have, that continue to work hard each week to improve their game. The future is very bright for this young set of players and I (along with the rest of the coaching team) enjoy every minute of supporting their development.”

Wishing all the Istead United Colts teams the very best for next season. If you are looking for an opportunity to get into football or are looking for a new team please don’t hesitate to contact us here: isteadcoltsfixtures@outlook.com or contact via text or WhatsApp Roy on 07979 652754.
