Istead United Colts Football Club held their annual presentation day at the Istead Rise Community Centre on 11th June.
Nearly 80 children received trophies on the day, as well as celebrating the success of teams of different ages that had achieved league and cup successes. Notably, the under 9’s League North Kent Youth League Challenge Shield Winners, and under 12’s Challenge Shield Finalists.
Istead United Colts would like to thank the Istead Rise community, Istead Rise Community Association and the people who give their time to help to make the club and the day so special for all the children and their families.
The day was hailed as a great success by all who were involved, particularly with the surprise guest appearance of Wimbledon AFC Captain, Alex Woodyard. Alex very kindly described his life as a professional footballer, provided advice to the children and answered their questions, including “what is your ranking of Fifa 23?”
Istead United Colts u9s winners of the 2023 North Kent Youth League Challenge Shield are proud to present the trophy to the community of Istead Rise as a way of gratitude for the continued sponsorship of Istead United Colts Football Club by Istead Rise Community Association (IRCA). 24 teams took part in the competition and the win was a huge achievement for a small village club. The trophy will be displayed at the Istead Rise Community Centre, alongside the Colts Team of the Year trophy.
Antony Slee, Manager of U9s presented the trophies to Colin Cross, Chairman of IRCA, and commented.
“The Associations sponsorship is a direct investment into local children’s development in football. My experience has shown football has huge positive impacts on our children, helping them to develop better ways to cope with the highs and lows of life, and builds their physical and mental agility. Without sponsorship and volunteers, grassroot football clubs like the Colts would struggle to survive so we are hugely grateful of IRCA, and we present these as a thank you”.
