The Istead Rise Memorial Hall in Lewis Road was built by local families from land donated by the Lewis family (a prominent part of the community since the First World War) and opened on the 23rd July 1949.
An informal Istead Rise Association existed during the Second World War and met in a wooden building known as the Chicken Hut and then relocated to the Memorial Hall. The objectives of the original Constitution were to provide support and opportunities to the local community.
The Memorial Hall stands as a permanent tribute and a reminder of the enormous sacrifice our service men and women endured to preserve our liberty we all enjoy today.
Over the past few years much needed renovation work has been completed by the IRCA to ensure the Memorial Hall will be here for many more years to come.
