‘Fitness with Friends’, aimed at the mature and retired, was introduced at Istead Rise in the Spring of 2019 and is at the Memorial Hall every Thursday 1:30-3:00pm. The class consists of 45 minutes gentle movement to music, followed by 45 minutes for a cuppa and a chat.
Family run ‘Fitness with Friends’ has 10 other venues in the Gravesham, Bexley and Dartford Boroughs and has proved to be very popular. Those attending, notice improvements in their flexibility and general health as well as having made new friends or had time to catch up with old friends. GPs, physiotherapists as well as other health sector workers endorse and promote the benefits Fitness with Friends can bring as it tackles both health and social needs.
Our teachers, Beckie and Amanda, come with a wealth of experience in performing and teaching, guaranteeing fun along with the fitness and friendship! They have many interesting stories of their professional performing days to share too! Ladies and Gentlemen of all abilities are welcome. Our staff is First Aid trained, have current DBS certificates, have training in balance improvement and fall prevention and are Dementia Friends, thus welcoming sufferers and carers with understanding and empathy. The pay as you go cost is £6 so there’s no financial commitment or contract.
