With summer fast approaching, Cllr Dibben and Kent Youth County Cllr Duffort want to inspire the residents of Istead Rise to use their bikes to keep fit and remain healthy.

We here at IRCAtoday.com alongside Cllr Dibben and Youth County Cllr Duffort, are encouraging as many residents to enjoy the outdoors by cycling safely on Bank Holiday Monday. This is a great incentive for residents to cycle in their community, and at the same time improve their health and fitness also mental health and wellbeing! It is important during such difficult times for us all to communicate, and what a nice way to end Mental Health Awareness Week.

We would love to see some of your photos on the day, our beautiful countryside makes for such a perfect backdrop, be sure to send them into newsdesk@ircatoday.com where we shall create a online gallery of the days activities.

Kent Youth Cllr Duffort, why is it good for young people to cycle on the Bank Holiday?

“It gets young people out of the house and from behind screens, and it keeps them fit and active. They need to appreciate the outdoors and nature, and learn about the wider community. Go outside!”

Cllr Dibben,

“I think this is a great way for residents to get outdoors and remain active in our community, something I will personally be continuing to pedal forward in my life. Our aim is for this to become a regular monthly fixture”.

“Riding a bike is healthy, fun and a low impact form of exercise”

Finally, we would like to encourage you all, as it is Mental Health Awareness Week to take 2 minutes of your day to text or phone someone you’ve not spoken to for a while as it may well be that you’re the first person they’ve heard from during these most difficult times, and whilst you’re doing that please also take time to think of those volunteers who are at the end of a phone for those who are truly suffering and donate £1 pound to our chosen charity of the week MIND UK, there is also a collection station at Istead Rise Co-op, thank you and we look forward to seeing your photos from your ride on Monday.
